Montalcino and the Brunello

A beautiful and exclusive 10 km day excursion around the town of Montalcino, which will make you immerse yourself in the wonderful vineyards of the surrounding countryside and try the traditions of these unspoilt places. This trekking tour is mostly suitable for whoever loves long walks and is well trained.

A private driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning, and take you to the starting point of the route, which is the Montalcino fortress, built in 1361 and modified during centuries, but still intact as of today. You will here meet up with a local guide, who will initially walk you through along a rounded path, around the homeland of the famous Brunello wine, telling you about historical and naturalistic information and stories in order for you to get to know the place, its wine and traditions better and therefore enjoy it more.

You will cross the entire town with your guide, and after that your excursion will actually get started; the itinerary won’t display huge difficulties along the way, you will walk for 10 km along white roads and even paved roads. You can stop to have a picnic outside in the open air in the middle of vineyards.

The last stretch of the route that will take you back to Montalcino, where you started, will be a bit of a climb, but we are sure you will not mind about it as you will be able to see the whole town from above with an amazing view: there is no doubt that the pictures you will take here will turn into your forever screensaver. Once you will get back to Montalcino, you will have a tour around a local winery, where to relax and taste the popular Brunello and Rosso wines. After the wine tasting, your driver will take you back to your hotel.

Comfortable clothes (even waterproof if possible just in case it rains) and trekking shoes are required.
