Siena and San Gimignano: a walk through old times
You will experience a tour in the heart of our region, with your local guide and private driver. You will explore two medieval towns with their famous hills: Siena and San Gimignano, an immersive time travel.
You will get to Siena in the morning, beautiful example of medieval art and much more, where you will admire the splendid gothic Cathedral, adorned with local polychromatic marble, which keeps the masterpieces of Michelangelo, Donatello and Lorenzo Bernini, then the headquarter of the Monte dei Paschi, the oldest and still working bank in the world. You will get lost in the narrow streets of the centre to then find yourself in the huge Campo Square, considered as one of the most beautiful places in the world, popular for its traditional Palio, the horse race that takes place there twice a year, on 2nd July and 16th August. After a tasty lunch break you will move to San Gimignano, famous for its medieval towers, still well-kept after 900 years. You will walk by Porta San Giovanni, to immerse yourself into the medieval architecture atmosphere, then get to the central Duomo and Cisterna places, where the Collegiata stands out, which keeps in beautiful frescoes from the 14th century by Sienese artists. You will be able to stop by in suggestive places, where to enjoy the view over the Chianti hills. For wine lovers, during this tour you will be able to taste the San Gimignano ‘Vernaccia’ white wine.
