The ‘Crete Senesi’ and the Truffle

A one-day trekking for you to immerse yourself into the beautiful Crete Senesi looking for one of the most valuable products of our region and especially Siena: the white truffle. Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and then take you to the lovely little town of Chiusure, known for the beautiful view over the gullies of the area. You will here meet up with your local guide, who will accompany you throughout a 8 km excursion, surrounded by the beauty of such a particular ecosistem. This trekking will lead you to one of the most important biological farms of the area. Here you will be able to experience something unusual, visiting the truffle reserve of the farm and actually going out in search of truffle, guided by truffle hunters and their dogs. To end your tour there will be a seasonal truffle tasting, with the typical truffle ‘bruschetta’, truffle ‘tagliolini’ and other typical dishes from the Crete Senesi tradition whilst enjoying a beautiful view over the surrounding countryside. Truffle hunting is available all year long except from the month of May, in which hunting is not possible (in this case you will be able to visit the farm and have lunch there anyways); according to the month it is possible to find different varieties and qualities of truffle.

Once the truffle tasting is finished, your driver will take you back to your hotel.

Comfortable clothes (even waterproof if possible, just in case it rains) and trekking shoes are required.
